It’s that time of year again! For all fans of electronic media, it’s what we look forward to all year long. In the past, almost none of my predictions have come true. That could be because it’s usually a list of hopes and dreams, but this year I can realistically see everything on this list happening. To make it easier on myself, I’m sorting them by company, and how confident I am. Make sure to hit the comment section and let me know what you think. Do you agree with my picks? Is there something huge I’ve missed? Let me know down below.
Halo: Infinite release window
Halo is one of Microsofts only exclusive properties, last year they gave us the name Halo: Infinite, which I believe is confirmed to be a mainline Halo game. Microsoft has said they’re going “all in” at E3, hopefully this comes with more information about what’s happening next in the Halo series. I don’t expect Halo: Infinite to be released any time soon, it wouldn’t surprise me if it’s a launch game for the XBOX 4.
Gears of War 5 release date
Gears of War is another one of Microsoft’s xbox exclusive properties. Last year all we heard was that Gears of War 5 is coming. I think that as a last effort in the XBOX One era they’ll release Gears 5 as the XBOX One’s final exclusive game.
New XBOX Exclusive IP
Last year at E3 Microsoft surprised everyone by announcing multiple studios that they have purchased to start developing xbox games. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to expect to see what some of those studios have been working on this year
XBOX Gamepass on switch
This is more of a dream than anything else, but I still think that it’s a possibility. Microsoft has hinted that Gamepass might become available on other platforms. This would be huge for microsoft because it would greatly increase their market, but it would be monumental for switch owners. The Arkham series and the rebooted Tomb Raider series are two of my favorite series to play, and both are available on Gamepass. I think it would be really cool to be able to play those games on my switch as well.
Elder Scrolls 6 Title
The Elder Scrolls Series is one of the most popular game series to date. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, originally released in 2011, has been remastered and rereleased so many times that it’s become a meme. Having finally beat Skyrim into the ground, and making a version of it available on every console, tablet, and even Amazon Echo devices, it’s time for a change. Last year, Bethesda confirmed that a new Elder Scrolls game is coming. It will probably not be released until at least 2020, but I don’t think it’s too early to get a full title.
Fallout 5 Confirmed
Fallout is probably Bethesda’s second most well-known property. That is unfortunately a double-edged sword, because Fallout 76 was a train-wreck and everyone knows it. I think that they need to reassure fans that they’re moving past Fallout 76, and announcing Fallout 5 is probably the best way to do that.
Watch_Dogs 3, Late 2019 Release
This is another one that’s leftover from last year. I’m a huge fan of the Watch_Dogs series, I enjoyed both the first and the second game and I’m looking forward to what comes next. Watch_Dogs came out in 2014, Watch_Dogs 2 came out in 2016, so I think it’s about time for another one.
More Assassin’s Creed Odyssey DLC
I vaguely remember Ubisoft saying that they were going to skip a new Assassin’s Creed in 2019, but continue to make DLC for Odyssey. To the best of my knowledge we don’t know what the next DLC will be, but I believe that it will be unveiled at E3 this year.
Mario + Rabbids 2, or more DLC
It’s been almost 2 years since Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle was released on the Nintendo Switch. I absolutely loved Kingdom Battle and the Donkey Kong DLC, and I cannot wait to see what Ubisoft gives us next. I think it’s finally time, I would prefer to get a sequel, rather than more DLC, but I’d be very excited for either.
New Ubisoft IP
To the best of my knowledge, it’s been 2 years since Ubisoft announced a new IP. The last ones that I remember were Mario + Rabbids and Starlink Battle for Atlas, both announced at E3 2017. I love most game from Ubisoft, and I’d be very hyped if they announced a new IP.
Final Fantasy XVI Confirmed
It’s only been 3 years since Final Fantasy XV was released, so it’s probably too early for a new full game, but I don’t think that it’s too early for them to confirm that XVI is coming. I don’t really have any reason to think that this is happening, but since Final Fantasy is Square Enix’s most popular property, why not?
Octopath Traveler Coming to More Platforms
In 2018, Octopath Traveler launched as a switch exclusive. From what I heard, it was insanely fun and ridiculously popular. JRPGs aren’t for me, but everyone who enjoys JRPGs loved Octopath Traveler. I think that there’s a huge market for Octopath on other platforms, so I think that it’s very likely that we start to see it on other systems.
Appearance from the Pikmin Series
I love the Pikmin series. This has been on my E3 predictions for years. I think that this is the year it will actually come true. I’d love a Pikmin HD Trilogy on switch, or simply Pikmin 4. Either way, I need more Pikmin in my life.
Possible Luigi’s Mansion 1+2 Remastered on Switch, and Luigi’s Mansion 3 release date
I decided to put these two together since they’re both about Luigi’s Mansion. I played the first Luigi’s Mansion on the Gamecube, skipped the second on the 3DS, and I’m very much looking forward to the third. I think it’s unlikely that we actually get the first two games remastered, but I can still hope. Luigi’s Mansion 3 is supposed to be coming out this year, so it makes sense that we’ll get a release
Some weird accessory that just makes people ask “why?”
Nintendo is the king of weird and unnecessary accessories. Power Glove. Gameboy Camera & Printer. Wii Zapper. Nintendo Labo. Do I need to say anything else? What will it be? Maybe an officially licensed Nintendo Fanny Pack switch holster, so you can play while walking or running.
Tease for a New 3D Zelda
I have no reason to think this will happen, but I want it. I know that there was a 6 year gap between Skyward Sword and Breath of the Wild, but I’m still hopeful.
Name of Metroid Prime 4
Metroid Prime 4 was unfortunately scrapped late in 2018. I don’t think that they’ll be ready to share a release date, but hopefully they’ll talk about their progress and give us a name.
Skyward Sword HD on Switch
Skyward Sword is one of the only 3D Zelda games that has not been remastered. Coincidentally, I think that it also has the most room for improvement. Many fans missed out on the game due to not owning either a Wii or the Motion Plus Controller, I think that if they were to remaster or remake the game on the switch it would be very popular.
Finally find out what Rocksteady has been working on
Rocksteady is the studio behind the Arkham Series, the series that’s considered by many to be the definitive Batman series. Rocksteady has remained silent as to what they’ve been working on since Arkham Knight’s release in 2016. I’m hoping for another home-run from Rocksteady, and I think it will finally be unveiled at E3.
Another Resident Evil remake, of the same quality as Resident Evil 2 (2019)
Earlier this year Capcom surprised Resident Evil fans with a remake of Resident Evil 2. The remake was very popular and received great reviews on nearly all sites. With Resident Evil 2 being a success, I think it’s possible that we get to see another remake at E3 this year.
