What I’ve Been Up To
Batman: Arkham Origins – XBOX 360
This is my second time playing through this game, but the first time on xbox (First time was on wii U). I’m enjoying this game way way way more than I did when I first played it. I think it’s possible that before I rushed through the game because Arkham Knight had already been released, but I’m enjoying Origins just as much as I enjoyed Arkham City. I’ve really enjoyed the world and side quests, and I think that the main story is also incredibly entertaining. The worst part, for me, is the voice acting. They recasted both Batman and the Joker, while the voice actors in Arkham Origins do a fine job, they pale in comparison to Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill. I believe that I’m very close to the end of the story, but my overall completion is at around 25%. I don’t think that I’ll get to 100% but there’s still a lot that I’d like to do once I’ve finished the main story. Also I’m planning on doing a ranking of all four arkham games once I finish Arkham Knight, so watch out for that in the future!
Long Shot – Movie
This past monday, my wife and I went and saw Long Shot in the theater. Our second movie of the summer. I didn’t know a whole lot about this movie going into it, but it looked pretty funny. Fred (Seth Rogen) is a journalist who is somewhat randomly hired to be a speechwriter for the Secretary of State (Charlize Theron). Overall, I thought it was very enjoyable. Seth Rogen was hilarious, as always, but Charlize Theron’s character seemed a bit bland to me. That being said, it was exactly what I wanted from a movie staring Seth Rogen. His character was awkward and ridiculous, yet somehow relatable and lovable at the same time. I think it also had a solid message, that if someone comes from a different social or political background, you can still date or marry that person and it doesn’t matter what others think. I probably won’t see it again while it’s in theaters, but I’d buy the Blu-Ray if I saw it in a $10 bin.
Ultimate Collector’s Series: Millennium Falcon
I received the Lego UCS Millennium Falcon as a graduation gift from my parents. I’ve always been a huge fan of both Star Wars and Legos, and I’ve been wanting one ever since they were announced in 2017. The UCS Millennium Falcon is the ultimate Lego experience. With nearly 8,000 pieces, it has more pieces than any other Lego set ever. Also, it is roughly to the same scale as the lego mini figures, making it massive.
Over the last week or so, I’ve spent around 20 hours constructing this monster. My only complaints are that it’s difficult to store and move because of it’s size. However that won’t stop me from flying it all over my apartment! Look for pictures of the completed product on Twitter! @James_Soler
This is a very exciting summer for moviegoers. Personally, I love seeing movies in a theater, and there wasn’t a better way to kick off a summer of movies than with Avengers Endgame. With several movies already out and another 10 on my list, I’m looking forward to spending lots of time at Alamo Drafthouse Cinema this summer. This next week I’m planning on seeing Brightburn, Aladdin, and Detective Pikachu. I probably won’t do full length reviews of those, but you can expect my overall impressions sometime next week.
Replaying Arkham Knight
I think that it will be very exciting to replay Arkham Knight. My first time playing through the Arkham series, Arkham Knight was my favorite. This time, I was able to take my time with both Arkham Origins and Arkham City, and I enjoyed them much more than I ever have. After my replay, I’ll rank the games in the series and finally decide where Arkham Knight ends up.
The last week or so, I’ve been on a break from Cuphead, and it’s been rather relaxing. However, I am planning to jump back in soon, probably this weekend. So far I’ve enjoyed the difficulty of the game, with the dragon level and airplane levels being the toughest for me.
