Hello everyone, it’s been a long time since I’ve shared what I’ve been up to, so the main purpose of this post will be to share games that I’ve been playing and my brief thoughts. I’ll also probably share some other various information about my life.
What I’ve Been Playing
State of Decay 2
State of Decay 2 is a Microsoft exclusive recently released for the XBOX One. It’s a fun zombie apocalypse game that challenges you to really make smart and sometimes tough decisions. In my first colony, there was a shortage of food, and I had to choose to either exile someone (hurts morale), execute someone (hurts morale), or just let the colony die. These tough decisions kept me engaged in the game for around 10 hours, until I started something new. Unfortunately since there is no main storyline, there isn’t much drawing me back to play it again, not when there are over 50 games in my backlog.
Metal Gear Solid V
Metal Gear Solid V will be my first Metal Gear game ever. The game runs smoothly, with great visuals and wonderful voice acting. I’ve been having a little bit of trouble getting used to the game, but that’s something that I’m sure will fade with time.
Gears of War
Gears of War was originally released for the XBOX 360, through XBOX Gamepass, I have been playing the game for free on my XBOX One S. I decided to play through the Gears of War series when Gears of War 5 was announced at E3 2018. I believe that I’m about half way through Act II and I like the overall feel of the game. I’m more of strategy player, so I like that it’s a cross between a tactical shooter and a more traditional shooter.
The Last of Us Remastered
The Last of Us is a game that has been on my list for a long time. When the game first came out in 2013 my roommate bought it and said I was welcome to play. I started a game, played for about 20 minutes, and never picked it up again. I bought The Last of Us Remastered solely because it was the cheapest game on my list when I recently bought my PS4. I’ve since finished the game and it continues to provoke thought and discussion. My favorite part of TLOA was probably the Characters. Every character had life, emotion, motivation, and desires. The characters felt more real than I’ve ever experienced in a game, and it paid off and created an emotional rollercoaster of a game. It was such an emotionally intense game that I could only play for 1 or 2 hours at a time. Overall I loved the entire game and the Left Behind DLC. There’s a pretty good chance that TLOA makes it into my top 10 games of all time.
Horizon Zero Dawn: Complete Edition
Horizon Zero Dawn is one of the games that motivated me to finally buy a PS4. I think that I’m only about 7-8 hours in, but so far I’m enjoying it. I’m still getting the hang of exploration and combat, but I love how every part of the game encourages curiosity and creativity. I’m looking forward to experiencing the rest of this huge game.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle + DLC
I love every part of this game. The difficult challenges, the strategic combat, and even the ridiculous rabbids. From the playable characters to the bosses, it’s clear that Ubisoft approached this game with a lighthearted nature.
Jackbox Party Pack
Jackbox Party Pack is the perfect game for groups who don’t normally game. I decided to try it on my switch, but it’s fun on any platform. The Switch has the added benefit of being able to undock, to play at a table, or even at dinner.
I recently registered for my final semester of College. I cannot wait to be done. Unfortunately since its my last semester, I will not have as much time to play games this semester. After graduation I’ll be looking for jobs related to Human Relations in the West Texas and the San Antonio/Austin area.
