E3 is just around the corner, and many gamers, like myself are excited for what is to come. In this post, I’ll break up my different predictions by company, including EA, Microsoft, Ubisoft and Nintendo.
EA never fails to deliver trailers for various sports titles at E3. I think we can expect to see footage from Madden, Fifa and probably more. As always, I’d love to see a brand new Rugby game announced, but that’s unlikely considering how Rugby isn’t very popular in America.
Anthem was first announced at E3 2017, it looked very interesting to me and as of right now it is set for a 2019 release. I think it’s likely that we’ll see more Anthem at this E3, and we might even get a release date.
The Halo series debuted in 2001, releasing a new main-series game every three years. The only exception to this was when the series switched developers between Halo 3 and Halo 4. Halo 5 was released in October of 2015, and if the pattern is to continue, we should be seeing a Halo 6 announcement at E3.
Lots of 4K XBOX Exclusives
Last year at E3, Microsoft announced lots of titles that would be either “XBOX One X Enhanced”, or just “XBOX Exclusive”. If I remember correctly, almost none of these were very exciting, and microsoft really seemed to be dropping the ball. Did anyone really get excited about being able to play Minecraft in 4K on an XBOX One X? I’m very hopeful that we’ll see some good XBOX exclusives at E3.
Watch_Dogs is one of Ubisoft’s newest series and I’ve enjoyed both games quite a bit. Watch_Dogs released in 2014, and Watch_Dogs 2 released in 2016. I think it’s reasonable to expect at least a trailer for Watch_Dogs 3 E3.
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey
Ubisoft has already leaked their next Assassin’s Creed game, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Based off of the name, I think it will take place in either Greece or Rome. It’ll probably take place not too long after the end of Assassin’s Creed Origins. I’m hoping that it’s announced for a 2018 release, but more realistically I think it’ll be a March/April 2019 release.
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle
Mario + Rabbids: Kingdom Battle is the most successful third-party game on the Nintendo Switch. It hasn’t been too long since the game came out, but I think it’s ver likely we’ll see either a sequel or DLC announced at E3.
New 2D Zelda
I’ve always been a huge Zelda fan, but I prefer the 3D games. Regardless, I’m expecting to see an announcement for a new 2D Zelda, probably for the 3DS. If so, it will probably be the last main Zelda game on the 3DS.
Super Smash Bros
Nintendo teased Super Smash Bros at a Nintendo Direct a couple months ago. At E3, I’m hoping to get more information about the upcoming game. Hopefully this will include a name, release date, and state whether it’s a new game or just a port.
Metroid Prime 4 was teased last year at E3. This year I’m hoping to get a real trailer and hopefully a release window.
Pikmin is one of my favorite series to date. Pikmin 3 is one of my favorite games of all time and there isn’t another puzzle-adventure quite like the Pikmin series. Nothing would make me happier than to hear of a Pikmin 4 coming later this year.
My Official Predictions
- Super Smash Bros Release Date
- Pikmin 4 Announcement
- Watch_Dogs 3 Announcement
- Halo 6 Announcement
